Proofed galleys a second time and the manuscript is looking good!
Next: Cover reveal is coming soon! I will share Terrapin Books' post on Facebook and on Instagram (if that's even possible on IG). We went with one of Mike's box assemblages, which I love (my husband is a talented guy with an eye for the strange and strangely beautiful; his 2D collages appear throughout this site). There's a lot going on in the book cover art, what looks like a lot of moving parts, something that begs instructions. What is this thing? How do I use it? How does it use me? Much like life.

Right now, Instructions for Use is in the editing phase. Soon, Terrapin Books editor Diane Lockward will share galleys for me to proofread. We are also waiting on back cover quotes (blurbs). Diane is estimating July/August for publication. I will share updates here. Very excited!

Instructions for Use is an unflinching, elegantly crafted debut collection of intensely smart, deeply observant poems, by turns tender and brutal: a meditation on what it means to carry a body with its physical and psychic scars through time. With beauty, humor, and an acrid toughness tonally bringing to mind Louise Glück as well as Henri Cole, Arlene DeMaris writes of perseverance in the face of loss, inheritance and loneliness, childlessness and grief, mortality and the wonderful, ferocious awe of being alive.
