Born in Plainfield, New Jersey, Arlene DeMaris lives in Avon, Connecticut with her husband, Michael. She is the author of Instructions for Use, a debut poetry collection. She has also published poems in Bellevue Literary Review, Maine Review, Radar Poetry, Tupelo Quarterly and other literary publications. She was the recipient of a 2023 Nutmeg Poetry Award and the 2024 Connecticut Poetry Award, both from the Connecticut Poetry Society. Arlene holds an MFA in Writing from the Bennington Writing Seminars of Bennington College, Vermont.
